NV Le Morette "Cepage" Chiaretto Di Bardolino, Veneto, Italy

An approachable Brut style with pronounced fruit flavors that generously express watermelon, peach, apricot, and strawberry. The fruit is carefully selected for acidity and balance and the bubbles are persistent and creamy. Sparkling wine isn’t just for special occasions, we think “Cepage” is perfect for celebrating life's daily pleasures and breaking bread with friends and family.

ABOUT THIS WINE

Vineyards lie in the Classico zone of Bardolino, more specifically in the cru zone of La Rocca, near the village of Lazise. Harvested from just 6 hectares of family-owned land on morainic soil. In collaboration with World Biodiversity Association, no chemicals are used to protect habitat for the diverse bird population around Lake Frassino. Vineyards are planted with flowers, grasses, and legumes to increase soil health and promote biodiversity. The Lake Garda microclimate moderates the temperature. Older vines (30+ years) are Cordon trained, and young vines are Guyot for more density (average 15 years).

Brief skin contact and fermentation in temperature-controlled tanks, secondary fermentation is conducted through the long Charmat method in isobaric tanks. Stainless steel tank through secondary fermentation. Vegan, lightly fined with a pea protein. Minimal sulfites are used in making this wine.

ABOUT THIS PRODUCER

Less than a mile from the beautiful southern shoreline of Lake Garda, Le Morette uses only the best estate fruit. Not to be confused with their cousins at the Zenato bottling company, this branch of the Zenato family tree has been grafting vines, studying indigenous varieties, and farming for three generations. The winery derives its name from a local duck, sacred to the ancient Etruscans, still protected and highly regarded today. The family’s expertise with the unique glacial soils around Lake Garda helps exemplify the flavor and character of their native varieties: the historic white grape, Turbiana (related to Verdicchio), and the classic red grapes in Bardolino, Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara. Fabio and his brother Paolo are creating some of the most compelling examples of these native grapes with organic practices, affiliated with the World Biodiversity Association.
