2022 Division Wine Co. "Deux" Pinot Noir, Eola Springs Vineyard, Oregon, USA

An aromatic combination of dusty cherries and a tart note reminiscent of dill pickles. The wine's boysenberry and ginger snap cookie flavors feel light and tingly on the palate, backed by frisky acidity and soft tannins. A fantastic match with turkey burgers.

ABOUT THIS WINE

Way back in 2010 with excitement and curiosity in their eyes, Division founded their winery with a few tons of Pinot Noir & Chardonnay from the original plantings on Eola Spring Vineyard. They have celebrated some of our best wines made over the last 14 years and now must say adieu to this amazing site.

A bittersweet moment indeed as they learned a few months after harvest 2021, that this would be the last year of the 50-year-old Pinot Noir vines at Eola Springs Vineyard, perhaps the oldest vines from the Eola-Amity Hills that were still productive. After 13 years of experience working with these old vines, the best word to describe them was “consistent” and consistently at the highest level of fruit quality that they have ever seen. This coupled with impeccable Biodynamic-principled farming and a very well-oiled winemaking machine, meant that they were able to produce very distinctive Pinot Noir.

ABOUT THE PRODUCER

Division Winemaking Company is a Portland, Oregon based winery founded in 2010 by Kate Norris and Thomas Monroe. Inspired by the wineries of Loire, Beaujolais, Burgundy and the Northern Rhone where they first learned winemaking and viticulture, the urban winery creates Oregon and Washington wines including Pinot Noir, Gamay, Chardonnay, Rose, Chenin, Riesling, Cabernet Franc, Cot, Syrah, Grenache, and Sauvignon Blanc. Determined to make approachable and balanced wines though minimal manipulation, the winemakers have a passion to work with well farmed terroir expressive vineyards, many of which are organic and/or Biodynamic®, celebrating the varietals the winemakers loves to drink. Division Winemaking Company includes the flagship Division label, the more approachable Division-Villages label, the Gamine brand inspired by the Rhone Valley and a personal expression of co-founder Kate Norris’ love of the region, as well as the experimental Tripod Project label, a collaboration between co-winemaker Tom Monroe, Barnaby Tuttle of Teutonic Wine and Jesse Skiles of Fausse Piste. Division Winemaking Company is also a member of the PDX Urban Wineries Association. Division Winemaking Company represents a new generation of winemakers that are looking beyond the status quo to create unique styles of wine, with a purpose, a story and without barriers.
