ABOUT THIS WINE

This is a beautiful wine, made at a heavy cost – only three casks were produced from a half-hectare. The results, however, are outstanding, with focused lemon peel, white flower, and mineral notes that open up to show a bit of oak spice on the palate. The texture has impressive concentration, and the flavours run deep on the palate. The grapes come from the Jadot-owned parcel at the top of the slope that was promoted from premier cru Cailleret. This wine may take a few years to open up but should last at least twenty years.

ABOUT THIS PRODUCER

Founded in 1859, Maison Louis Jadot is a historic reference in Burgundy. The familial venture began with the acquisition in 1826 of a plot of the famous Beaune Premier Cru des Ursules. The house then asserted itself thanks to the wine trade, which today has earned it an international reputation, particularly across the Atlantic. Since 1985, the prestigious Maison Louis Jadot has belonged to the Kopf family, which initially imported Louis Jadot wines to the United States. Headed by Pierre-Henry Gagey since 1992, Maison Louis Jadot continues to maintain the notion that Burgundy is accessible to all those who seek high quality wines through a wide range of vintages, including regional appellations, Villages, Premier Crus and Grand Crus.

The vineyards of this prestigious Burgundy house stretch from the Côtes de Nuits to the Mâconnais across more than 200 hectares. There are Grand Crus such as Corton-Charlemagne and Le Clos de la Roche, but also, and above all, Premier Crus in the vicinity of well-known villages such as Pulign-Musigny and Beaune. Since 2013, as a nod to its owner, Louis Jadot has acquired 40 hectares of vineyards in Oregon in the United States. This vineyard, named Resonance Vineyard, refers to the Burgundian grape varieties grown there (Pinot Noir and Chardonnay).

The essence of Maison Louis Jadot lies in these Premier and Grand Cru wines from the Côte de Nuits and the Côtes de Beaune. Among the red wines, we can mention the Beaune Premier Cru Clos des Ursules, from the first plot acquired by the house, and the Gevrey-Chambertin Clos-Saint-Jacques. As for white wines, the Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru and Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru are among the greatest of Burgundy.

Pierre-Henry Gagey has been at the head of Maison Louis Jadot since 1992, and in September 2022 he handed over his position to Thomas Seiter (Bouchard Père et Fils) and the General Management to his son Thibault.
