ABOUT THIS WINE

The ancient vines (some original plantings made by Quintin) are mostly at around 550 – 600m above sea level, goblet pruned and only fertilized with organic fertilizers. All harvesting is by hand and traditional winemaking techniques are followed, with long and gentle macerations and maturation being carried out using a mixture of French and American oak barrels.

Ortega Ezquerro manages to balance the line between traditional and modern styles with great skill, passion, and a real sense of joy. Their wines offer some of the best value to be found in this classic region.

ABOUT THIS PRODUCER

Quintin Ortega planted his first vines in Rioja in 1896. The Ortegas are one of those winemaking families that have successfully managed to adapt to modern times, preserving their philosophy of quality and craftsmanship in their wines and adapting to present-day oenology. Carmelo Ortega, the great-grandson of Quintin Ortega in 1896 now runs the estate along with Winemaker David Bastida.
