ABOUT THIS WINE

Château Cantenac-Brown is a Third Classified Growth of Margaux

The blend is 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Merlot.

The 2012 vintage came out of a humid growing season, and this weather made it a difficult year for the vine growers since the weather conditions exposed the grapes to the risk of disease. The estate's technical team worked tirelessly to provide nurturing daily care to the vines. This attention allowed the grapes to ripen simultaneously, and this helped the technical team select only the best grapes. The result was a harvest that started on October 1 with Merlot and finished on October 17 with Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2012 vintage proved to be a remarkable year.

With a blend dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon(65%) and complemented by Merlot(35%), Chateau Cantenac Brown 2012 offers an intense and complete experience that only the great Margaux wines know how to reveal.

The Cantenac Brown 2012 is a tremendous success that seduces with its elegant and evolving bouquet of ripe black fruit. The bouquet is punctuated with rose and violet floral notes, and enhanced with light notes of spicy vanilla. The palate is flexible, velvety, and complex with a dense and tight structure. There are fine tannins without an ounce of astringency in the mouth. From the attack to the finish, the mouthfeel maintains intensity and develops a beautiful complexity marked by the fruit until the very end of the persistent finish. Full of elegance and savoriness, the Chateau Cantenac Brown 2012 will seduce and surprise the greatest lovers of Margaux!

ABOUT THIS PRODUCER

Today, the Chateau Cantenac Brown vineyard covers 42 hectares in the south of the Margaux appellation, mainly in the Cantenac commune. Located in the communes of Arsac, Soussans, Margaux, Cantenac and Labarde, the Margaux appellation terroirs are terraced groups of gravel, ensuring good natural drainage. Each terroir is different and produces a unique wine.

The Cantenac Brown soil is typical Medoc gravel. This beautiful, brilliant quartz, formerly called "Medoc diamonds" reflects the sun's rays onto the grapes by day and then releases the heat stored during the day to warm the grapes by night. Cabernets, in particular Cabernet Sauvignons, do well in this soil. They produce fine wines, with an intense bouquet, which are suitable for aging. Merlot, with which they are blended, provides color, richness and smoothness.
